MILL RIVER MUSIC
Mission Statement: The Mill River Music Department engages and supports students who have a passion for music. We provide a quality music education for all students as well as creating the necessary learning environment and enrichment experiences that foster a cultural climate of music participation and appreciation. We encourage student voice and choice as a student’s educational experience can be customized for their individual needs. We seek to prepare students to make informed future educational and career choices by immersing themselves in challenging and rigorous performance programs.

OUR MISSION
The Mill River Music Academy views the arts as essential to the human spirit. We strive to graduate students who are ready to accept multiple challenges, think creatively and persevere through adversity. The Academy’s diverse and stimulating curriculum prepares students to succeed in the workplace, the military or collegiate studies.

We believe that all students should have access to arts training.
We believe that student learning is enhanced by cross disciplinary and integrated instruction.
We believe that students flourish in a creative, purpose-driven environment.
We believe that the arts use the multiple intelligences that students possess.
We believe that instructional programs should extend beyond the classroom.
We believe that training in the performing arts combined with academic rigor prepares students to graduate as creative and confident individuals.

DIstricts Festival #2
March 1st, 2019
Students from Mill River Union High School music will participate in a district-wide high school chorus, jazz band, middle school strings, and middle school band. A concert will be performed at 7:00 PM at the College of Saint Joseph.

Music In Our Schools
March 6, 2019
Mill River Unified District students in grades 4-7 will gather for a combined band and chorus rehearsal during the morning. They will put on two performances in the afternoon, along with students from Cantiamo, Vivace, and Jazz Band.

Mill River Latin Honors Awards
February 28, 2019
The Jazz Band will be performing at the ceremony.

Green Mountain Music District 5 Auditions
High School: November 5th, 2018
Middle School: November 19th, 2018
Green Mountain Music District 5 is an organization that supports students, teachers and communities in our portion of Vermont in the pursuit of music making. They offer Four ensembles for both Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers including Chorus, String Ensemble, Jazz Band, & Symphonic Band. Students who audition will be considered for placement in the corresponding district wide performance group with a festival and performance occuring in February or March depending upon the goup they are accepted for.

Northeast Instrumental Music Festival
November 15-18th, 2018
This festival is located in Lake Placid NY and is open to interested students in the Senior High Band program. Students will notify Mr. Roach of their interest in the festival and participants will be selected by the music department in accordance with the criteria of the festival.

Vermont All State Auditions
January 12th, 2018
The Vermont All State Festival is a part of the Vermont Music Educators Association and is designed to bring musicians from all over the state together for a concert festival. Students can audition for placement in either; orchestra, chorus, band, or jazz band. If selected they have the oportunity to attend the All State Festival and Performance May 8-11th, 2018

New England Music Association Solo & Ensemble Festival
December 1st, 2018
The New England Association is an organization that looks to bring both a solo and ensemble festival as well as concert festival to students from all over the New England area. Students who perform for a score at the Solo and Ensemble Festival can be considered for placement in the Concert Festival held March 21-23rd, 2018 in Windsor CT.

Friends of Music kick off Meeting

Come one, come all, parents, and friends, alumni, and community. Do you want to be more involved with the music department and help out with the events that go on throughout the year? Then come out to the first meeting and see what we are all about.

Since joining Mill River Music Kristin Cimonetti has consistently brought a passion and dedication to each day of school. She is incredible teacher and a fabulous musician. Students feel welcomed and engaged in each of her classes.
